Flood Warning issued April 28 at 9:10PM CDT until April 29 at 9:30AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of Southeast Kansas, including the following counties, Allen, Elk, Greenwood, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Until 930 AM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 909 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported flooding in the warned area. Between 3 and 9 inches of rain have fallen. Many roads are still impassable and include two U.S. Highways. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Parsons, Chanute, Iola, Eureka, Neodesha, Fredonia, Humboldt, Yates Center, Erie, Madison, St. Paul, La Harpe, Gas, Moran, Thayer, Altoona, Longton, Toronto, Hamilton and Severy. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.

Neosho River at Oswego affecting Cherokee and Labette Counties. Neosho River near Parsons affecting Neosho and Labette Counties. Neosho River at Iola affecting Allen County. Neosho River near Chanute affecting Neosho and Allen Counties. Neosho River near Erie affecting Neosho County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Neosho River at Iola. * WHEN...Until late Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...At 19.5 feet, Flood waters flow over 1300 Street, just north of Elm Creek, and over low lying fields next to the Water Plant. Expect west bank overflows north of gage site. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:00 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 19.9 feet. - Bankfull stage is 20.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening and continue falling to 8.8 feet Friday evening. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
