Flood Warning issued April 28 at 8:54AM CDT until April 28 at 3:00PM CDT by NWS Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of east central Kansas, including the following county, Linn and west central Missouri, including the following counties, Bates and Henry. * WHEN...Until 300 PM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 853 AM CDT, The transportation department reported heavy rain in The Department of Transportation has reported that Highway B in southern Bates County is closed due to water over the roadway due to thunderstorms. Two to five inches of rain has fallen across the area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Clinton, Butler, Adrian, Rich Hill, Pleasanton, La Cygne, Mound City, Calhoun, Deepwater, Montrose, Hume, Blue Mound, Prescott, Coal, Amsterdam, Amoret, Rockville, Foster, Brownington and Tightwad. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Big Creek at Blairstown affecting Johnson, Cass and Henry Counties. For the Big Creek...including Blairstown...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Big Creek at Blairstown. * WHEN...Until Friday morning. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, The west bank of the creek begins to flood. At 23.0 feet, Flooding occurs at the west approach to the N Highway bridge located 0.2 miles west of Blairstown. Flooding also occurs across B Highway near Big Creek which is several miles northwest of Blairstown. At 26.0 feet, Many farm levees along Big Creek are overtopped. Flooding of rural areas behind the levees occurs. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 26.1 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 27.3 feet this evening. South Grand River at Urich affecting Bates, Cass and Henry Counties. For the South Grand River...including Urich...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...South Grand River at Urich. * WHEN...Until early Wednesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 24.0 feet, Flooding occurs across locations within 0.5 to 1.5 miles of the river. Areas affected include low lying pastures along with cropland and secondary roads. At 28.0 feet, K Highway is under water approximately 1 mile south of Urich. Many other roads along the river are flooded as well. At 29.5 feet, Flood waters approach 4th Street at Elm Street, and one block west of Green Street. Basement and garage flooding also occurs near 4th and Elm streets. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 3:15 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 20.0 feet. - Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage this morning to 29.3 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall early tomorrow afternoon. It will rise to 29.2 feet tomorrow evening.
