Coastal Flood Advisory issued October 21 at 12:44PM AKDT until October 23 at 7:00AM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK * WHAT...Minor coastal flooding expected. * WHERE...Western Arctic Coast. * WHEN...Until 7 AM AKDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated. Some shoreline erosion may occur. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Water levels are expected to rise to 4 to 6 feet above normal high tide line. Waves pushing onshore will result in erosion. For Point Lay, high water will result in the Kokolik River backing up and flooding adjacent low lying area. Water will peak this afternoon through Tuesday morning and remain elevated through Thursday. If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
