Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Special Weather Statement issued July 16 at 5:43PM MDT by NWS Boise ID At 543 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Initial Point to 6 miles south of Blacks Creek Reservoir. Movement was north at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Areas of blowing dust reducing visibility. Locations impacted include... Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Kuna, Garden City, Blacks Creek Reservoir, Lucky Peak Dam, Aldape Summit, Initial Point, Hidden Springs, and Lucky Peak Reservoir. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
