A FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR AREAS NEAR ANCHOR LAKE * WHERE...Southeastern St. Tammany Parish in southeastern Louisiana... Hancock County in southern Mississippi... Harrison County in southern Mississippi... Southeastern Pearl River County in southern Mississippi... * WHEN...Until 630 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Several structures are flooded and some sand bagging operations are continuing. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Local media have reported water rescues. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 331 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated flooding. Between 8 and 14 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Slidell, Picayune, Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Diamondhead, Eden Isle, Pearl River, Kiln, Stennis Space Center, Shoreline Park, Mcneil, Pearlington, Lyman, Saucier and Slidell Airport. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms with locally very heavy rainfall are expected today and potentially continuing through tonight. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
