Heat Advisory issued June 17 at 10:16AM EDT until June 21 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Wilmington OH * WHAT...Heat index values up to 101 are expected. * WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast Indiana, northeast and northern Kentucky, and central, south central, southwest, and west central Ohio. * WHEN...Until 8 PM Friday. * IMPACTS...The combination of excessive heat due to temperatures in the 90s and high humidity will increase the threat of heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors, especially those that may have underlying health conditions. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Air Quality Alert issued June 17 at 12:04AM EDT by NWS Wilmington OH The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission and the Regional Air Pollution Control Agency have issued an Air Quality Alert for Montgomery, Miami, Greene, Clark, Preble and Darke counties in the Miami Valley Region, until midnight EDT tonight. Levels of ozone within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. On Alert days, help reduce ozone by taking the following actions: * Carpool, if possible, bike, walk or take the bus instead of driving alone. * Refuel your vehicle after 8 pm. * Do not idle your vehicle, exhaust contributes to air pollution. * Mow your lawn in the evening hours and avoid the use of gas-powered lawn equipment. Special Weather Statement issued June 17 at 1:35PM EDT by NWS Wilmington OH At 134 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Dayton, moving northeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and very heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Visibility will be poor and hydroplaning is possible. Locations impacted include... Dayton, Kettering, Huber Heights, Fairborn, Trotwood, Vandalia, Englewood, Moraine, New Carlisle, Oakwood, Wright-Patterson Afb, Brown, Riverside, Clayton, Shiloh, Fort Mckinley, Phoneton, Northview, Brandt, and Park Layne. This includes the following Interstates... I-70 in Ohio between mile markers 28 and 41. I-75 in Ohio between mile markers 50 and 64. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a sturdy building.
